The world renowned R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center provides challenging care of the most critically ill patients in Maryland.
The Critical Care Resuscitation Unit (CCRU) at the University of Maryland Medical Center R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center is a one of a kind unit which specializes in resuscitation of the adult critically-ill, non-trauma patient being transferred from outside facilities for tertiary care. Using a collaborative team approach, this unit facilitates rapid access to a wide range of services such as neurology, stroke neurology, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, cardiology, acute care emergency surgery, vascular, soft tissue, and transplant.
As a nurse in the CCRU, you will provide care to critically ill, non-trauma, medical and surgical patients who need immediate resuscitation and stabilization. Patients commonly seen but are not limited to neurological, surgical, medical and/or cardiac emergencies, aortic dissection, septic shock and multi-system organ failure.
The collaborative team approach supports rapid clinical evaluation, diagnostic imaging, and resuscitative interventions. Management of resuscitative interventions such as invasive hemodynamic monitoring, continuous renal replacement therapy, extra ventricular drains (EVD), intra-aortic balloon counter pulsation devices (IABP), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and resuscitative endovascular occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) are common when providing nursing care for patients in the CCRU.

-RN with minimum of 3-5 yrs. current Critical Care experience in at least a 12-16 bed Surgical, Neuro, Medical, Trauma or Cardiac ICU required. -Invasive monitoring experience required.
-Both BLS and ACLS required
Note: not able to consider ER experience as a replacement for ICU experience.

-Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
-Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to compact state
requirements outlined by the Maryland Board of Nursing
